Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre (SYVC)
The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres is a non-profit organization named after Swami Sivananda, one of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century. The organization was founded by his disciple, Swami Vishnudevananda.
In 1957, following the instructions of his guru, Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnudevananda traveled to the West to share the teachings of yoga. In 1959, he established the first Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Today, there are nearly 60 Sivananda locations worldwide, including ashrams, yoga centres, and affiliated centres. More than 53,000 teachers have graduated from the Teacher Training Course (TTC) programs.
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams and Centres are internationally recognized for teaching yoga authentically, preserving its purity, and maintaining a spiritual tradition that dates back thousands of years.
We offer a wide range of programs, as well as opportunities for personal growth through Karma Yoga, including both temporary and full-time staff service programs.

Our History & Impact In Vietnam
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram and Centres in Vietnam represent an important step in the global expansion of classical Indian yoga and play a meaningful role in the Sivananda organization’s outreach throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Dedicated to preserving and sharing the authentic teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda, we serve as a bridge between ancient yogic wisdom and the evolving lifestyles of both the Vietnamese community and international visitors. Through our programs, we promote unity, well-being, and inner peace across cultures.

The Journey of Sivananda Yoga in Vietnam
By the grace of the Guru and the wholehearted support of the community, Sivananda Yoga has grown steadily in Vietnam. It has become one of the country’s leading destinations for self-healing and yoga teacher training, inspiring a new wave of holistic living and personal well-being. To date, over 10,000 individuals have benefited from its programs—through regular practice, healing retreats, and transformative training—spreading the impact of yoga across generations and communities.

A Humble Beginning
Serving with Humility
After more than 30 years living abroad, Swami Sitaramananda was invited to return to Vietnam to share the teachings of Sivananda Classical Yoga.
Beginning simply, Swamiji offered classes wherever space was available — in Ho Chi Minh City, Củ Chi, community centers, tea meditation spaces, and other modest local venues — guided by a sincere wish to share the teachings of yoga and serve those who were interested in learning.

The First Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course in Vietnam (200hrs)
In 2010, Swami Sitaramananda, together with senior teachers and staff, hosted the first Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) in Củ Chi, Vietnam.
With more than 70 Vietnamese and international students, the course reflected a growing interest in studying authentic yoga within a traditional setting.
Since then, the TTC has been offered annually. In 2017, with the establishment of the Sivananda Yoga Resort and Training Center, the program expanded to three courses per year in response to increasing interest from students in Vietnam and abroad.

Establishing the First Centre
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ho Chi Minh Center
In 2010, the first Sivananda Yoga Centre in Vietnam was officially established in Ho Chi Minh City, thanks to the generous support of Ms. Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ, who donated her tea meditation space to create a dedicated space for yoga.
In the midst of the bustling city, many sought balance, healing, and clarity—and yoga became a vital support in their lives. This marked a key milestone, ensuring the long-term presence of Sivananda Yoga in Vietnam and laying a strong foundation for its future growth.
Today, this center has become a beloved sanctuary where thousands of students come for regular practice, personal growth, and heartfelt connection within a vibrant yogic community.

Expansion to Da Lat, Central Highlands of Vietnam
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Da Lat Center
The expansion of Sivananda Yoga into Đà Lạt, in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, marked an important step in making the teachings of classical yoga more accessible in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region.
Located in a peaceful villa in a quiet area removed from the main activity of the town, about one kilometer from Xuân Hương Lake, the center offers a calm and supportive environment for practice and reflection. It is a place where visitors can step away from the pace of daily life and reconnect with health, balance, and inner peace.
The center serves as a gathering place for authentic classical yoga practice, welcoming both local residents and international visitors. Whether new to yoga or continuing an established practice, students can find a supportive environment for learning, practice, and personal growth.
More than a place for yoga classes, the center also supports a growing community of practitioners and graduates of the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course, offering opportunities to practice together, deepen understanding, and participate in community life.

Opening the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Resort & Training Center in Da Lat, Vietnam
In 2017, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Resort & Training Center was established in Đà Lạt, near Hồ Tuyền Lâm (Tuyền Lâm Lake), approximately 6–7 kilometers from the city center. Surrounded by pine forests and nature, the center became the main headquarters of Sivananda Yoga in Vietnam and the primary location for its teacher training programs, retreats, and yoga vacations.
In addition to teacher training courses, the center offers retreats, wellness programs, and opportunities for deeper study and practice. It continues to serve as a place where students and guests can rest, reflect, and reconnect with themselves through the teachings of yoga.
Over the years, many Vietnamese students have completed yoga teacher training at the center and gone on to share the teachings in their own communities. The center also welcomes guests throughout the year for retreats, yoga vacations, and personal practice.
Beyond its educational programs, the center supports a resident community where staff and volunteers have the opportunity to live a yogic lifestyle grounded in daily practice, karma yoga, and spiritual discipline.

Expansion to Hanoi
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Hanoi Center
In 2021, Sivananda Yoga expanded to Hà Nội, the capital of Vietnam, with the opening of a new center serving the northern region of the country.
Located in a busy urban setting, the center helps make the teachings and practice of classical yoga more accessible to local residents and visitors alike.
The center offers a space for regular practice, study, and community activities, while also providing an opportunity for students to connect with the wider Sivananda community throughout Vietnam.

Opening the Door to Therapeutic Yoga
Sivananda Yoga Health House
In 2023, the Sivananda Yoga Health House was established as a dedicated space for the Sivananda Yoga Health Educators Training program.
Focused on holistic wellness, the center offers adaptive yoga practices designed to support people of different ages, needs, and levels of experience.
The Health House provides an environment for students to study and learn how yoga can support self-care, healing, and healthy living.
It reflects an ongoing commitment to making the teachings and practices of yoga more accessible and supportive for a wider community.
