Gentle Yoga Teacher Training Course

The Gentle Yoga Teacher Training Course is a practical and experiential training designed to provide teachers with foundational knowledge and techniques for teaching Gentle Yoga safely and effectively.

The training supports teachers in guiding classes that are accessible to people of different ages, abilities, and health conditions. Participants will learn how to adapt postures and practices to support relaxation, balance, ease of movement, and overall well-being.

The course explores approaches suitable for a wide range of individuals, including those with health conditions, limited mobility, recovery needs, or anyone seeking a gentler approach to yoga practice.

In addition to the training sessions, participants will take part in the daily rhythm of ashram life, including yoga classes, meditation, vegetarian meals, and community activities within the peaceful forest environment of the Sivananda Yoga Resort and Training Center.

Curriculum

This training combines practical class design, gentle posture guidance, breath awareness, relaxation, and foundational theory for teaching students of different ages, abilities, and health conditions.

1. Gentle Yoga Practice – Hatha Yoga

  • ✨ How to guide gentle yoga postures on the mat and using a chair
  • ✨ Designing gentle yoga classes for different groups and individual needs
  • ✨ Preparing the practice space for a supportive and accessible class environment
  • ✨ Developing the teacher’s presence, awareness, and communication
  • ✨ Important considerations when teaching Gentle Yoga classes

2. Theory

  • ✨ Understanding stress and the body’s response to stress
  • ✨ Basic body systems and the benefits of Gentle Yoga
  • ✨ The role of breath awareness, deep relaxation, and concentration
  • ✨ Common health conditions and teaching considerations
  • ✨ Health considerations for older adults
  • ✨ Stages of life and psychological development from a yogic perspective

Important Note

  • Successful completion of the Sivananda Yoga Teachers’ Training Course (TTC) is a prerequisite for participation in this course.
