Course Details

One of the main reasons of stress is our negative feelings and thoughts. Negativities are prevalent nowadays in our busy, fast pace life. Our interactions with others seem to be more negative than bringing comfort and joy.  Our minds are saturated and our sensitivity numbed with overload information and the confusion and despair that come from local, national or world news. In this atmosphere, it is difficult for us to access our innate positive and joyful nature, and remember the goodness of men and the grace of God. We lose faith and doubt our path and worry about where the world is going and what will become of us. We need to see clearly and take a break from our busy life to recharge and reconnect with the beauty and meaning of life. We can not change the external but we can change our outlook about it. We can not redo the past and it is not helpful to worry about the future, but we can live in the solid present and make the best of it.

Curriculum

There will be workshops and lectures specifically on the power of thoughts, how to be in the present, and how to turn negative feelings and thoughts to positive feelings. How to manage stress and respond positively to challenges. Yoga psychology and philosophy have a wealth of techniques and information that will help us to cope.

6-8am Satsang: Guided silent meditation practice, chanting and lecture
8-10am Yoga Class
10am Brunch
11am Karma Yoga
1-3pm Positive Thinking Workshop
3-4pm Free Time and Nature walks
4-6pm Yoga Class
6pm Dinner
7-8pm Free Time
8-10pm Satsang: meditation, chanting and lecture

Arrival and Departure

Check-in time 2:00PM and Check-out time 12:00AM

Time of arrival/departure is when the accommodations will be ready, however you are welcome to arrive/depart earlier or later.

What to Bring

Textbook: "Essentials of Yoga Practice and Philosophy" by Swami Sitaramananda

Other:  slip on shoes, loose comfortable clothing, writing materials, meditation shawl or blanket, yoga mat, flashlight.  All books and materials are available in our boutique.

Teacher

Swami Narayanananda

Swami Narayanananda, who was born in London, England, has been a teacher of Yoga and meditation in the International Sivananda Yoga vedanta Centers since 1999. He has served in the ashrams in California and New York, also as director of the centers in New York and Chicago. He is a regular teacher for our Teacher Training and Advanced Teacher training courses in the USA, India and Vietnam. Swami Narayanananda has a compassionate and accessible teaching style firmly based in his own practice and in the study of scripture.
