Description

This 10-day advanced course features vedantic meditation, study about the mind, way to increase inner power through yoga practice: asana and pranayama, practice of group scriptural study, personal self-inquiry and practice of outer and inner silence.

Curriculum

There will be personal coaching and guidance by Swami Sitaramananda in the study of Viveka Chudamani, the "Crest Jewel of Discrimination" by Sankaracharya. Enter into the peaceful silence of the inner Self through the practice of external silence. Come away with deeper self-knowledge and a sense of clarity and peace.

Daily Schedule

  • 5:30 am                 Wake up
  • 6:00-7:00 am         Meditation alone at a chosen location
  • 7:00-10:00 am       Dialogue with the teacher, group dialogue
  • 10:00-10:45 am      Vegetarian brunch, sitting alone in Mouna (silence)
  • 11:00-12:00 am      Karma yoga, interactions as needed, still in Mouna
  • 12:00am-1:00 pm   Silent reflection, journal writing, study time
  • 1:00-3:00 pm         Swadhyaya, guided study of scripture, in a group with the teacher
  • 4:00-6:00 pm         Asana/pranayama practice in silence
  • 6:00-7:00 pm         Vegetarian dinner, sitting alone in Mouna
  • 7:30-9:00 pm         Meditation, kirtan, lecture
  • 10:30 pm               Lights out

Pre-requisite

Scincere willing to learn classical yoga. SUITABLE FOR SIVANANDA YOGA TTC GRADUATES ONLY.

Certificate

Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center.

Arrival and Departure

Check-in time is 12:00pm the first day.
Check-out time is 12:00pm the last day.

You are welcome to extend your stay at the ashram, please inform your arrival and departure date in the registration form.

What to Bring

Reference Book:  Shankara's Crest Jewel of Discrimination; by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood, Vedanta Press

Other things: slippers, modest comfortable clothings, blankets, toiletries, books, notebooks, pens, flashlights, alarm clocks, yoga mat. All these books and items are avaiable for sale in our boutique.

Swami Sitaramananda

Swami Sitaramananda is an international teacher of  Yoga, Meditation, and Philosophy for more then 35 years.  She is a direct disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda and is a representative of the teachings of International SYVC in Vietnam.  She is in charge of West coast USA centers and Asia centers.  She is presently the main teacher of the Yoga Teachers Training Courses offered at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, CA where she is serving as the director for more then 20 years.  She also teaches yearly at other Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams & Centers in India, Bahamas, Japan, and China as well as Centers along the West Coast USA, San Francisco and Los Angeles and has taught in her birth country, Vietnam, since 2010.
